Preamble

The Coast Water Services Board (CWSB) is a parastatal (Government Owned and Autonomous) created under the Water Act, 2002 and established through a Gazette Notice No. 1328 of 27th February 2004 and Section 156 (3) (a) of The Water Act 2016 and Legal Notice Number 60 of 2017.  The area of jurisdiction of CWSB covers all the six counties in Coast region namely; Lamu, Tana River, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale and Taita Taveta.

The mandate of the Board is to ensure efficient and economical provision of water and sewerage services within its area of jurisdiction.

The Board wishes to recruit self-driven, result oriented, highly motivated and qualified persons to fill the following posts:

Security Officer- J/G 4 (1post)

Reporting to HR& Administration Manager

Overall purpose

  • Will be responsible for securing and safeguarding corporation’s assets and resources in the region.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Carrying out security risk assessments and making recommendations to management.
  • Coordinating investigations on all criminal acts or any losses incurred by the   organization and taking necessary action.
  • Overseeing the implementation of security measures and regulations by employees.
  • Safeguarding security of assets against theft, damage, misuse or sabotage.
  • Liaising with law enforcement agencies to ensure effective execution of security services
  • Supervising contracted security personnel to ensure value for money.
  • Undertaking security intelligence surveys and recommending necessary interventions.
  • Undertaking investigations of motor accidents involving the Board’s motor vehicles and taking the necessary actions.

Requirements for appointment

  • Those who have previously worked and honorably discharged from Kenya Police (Regular) will have an added advantage.
  • Must have a Clearance from the Criminal Investigations Department (Certificate of Good Conduct).
  • Must have trained in any of the following: Kenya Defense Forces, National Police Service, National Youth Service Training and Protective Security Industry Training.
  • Have at least Five (5) years’ post training working Experience.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Computer literate

Legal Assistant J/G 4(1 post)

Reporting to Company secretary

Duties and responsibilities and Responsibilities

The Legal assistant  will be assisting the Company secretary  in  monitoring enactments of Parliament; interpreting statutes for CWSB; advising on criminal and civil cases; doing correspondence with external lawyers, suppliers and the general public; attending hearings in court.

 Requirements for appointment

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in law from a recognized university.
  • Undertaken a Post Graduate Diploma in law from Kenya School of Law.
  • A current practising Certificate will be an added advantage.
  • Have knowledge on computer application skills.
  • Knowledge on Land registration and filling processes.
  • Knowledge Court filling processes.

Assistant Hydro Geologist J/G 4 (1 Post)

Duties and responsibilities & Responsibilities

  • Conducting Hydro-geological and geophysical surveys
  • Assisting in Contract  Management
  • Assisting in planning for water resources
  • Assisting in preparation of tender documents

Requirements for appointment

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Hydro-geology and Water Resource Management.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in similar field.
  • Certificate of good conduct.

Plant Operator J/G 7 (1 Post)

Duties and responsibilities & Responsibilities

  • Undertaking excavation activities
  • Proper maintenance of excavating machines
  • Routine maintenance of the excavating machines
  • Ensuring cleanliness of the excavating machines

Requirements for appointment

  • KCSE certificate of Grade D Plain or its equivalent
  • Have passed the suitability test for plant operators
  • Possess a valid driving license free from current endorsement for class of machines that one may be required to operate
  • Have attended a First Aid certificate course lasting not less than one week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways & Building Technology (KIHB) or any recognized institution.

Water Supply Operator J/G 7 (1 Post)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Dosing of chlorine
  • Taking reading of the ventricular meter (commander) levels and communicating the same to Officer In-charge.
  • Taking master meter readings within ones area of jurisdiction
  • Cleaning the areas within which water tanks are installed and its environs
  • Making daily and weekly reports and occurrences as registered in the occurrence Book.

Requirements for appointment

  • KCSE certificate D+ or its equivalent
  • Be in a possession of Trade Test III in Plumbing
  • Possess relevant computer skills
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Water Supply Operator’s certificate from Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) or other recognized body.

Artisan (Mechanic) (J/G 7 -2 Posts)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Transport Officer
  • Minor repairs of Motor Vehicles (minor servicing)
  • Panel beating
  • Routine checks of all the board vehicles and advise the Transport Officer on next course of action.
  • Routine checks on all electrical faults on all vehicles.

Requirements for appointment

  • KCSE D+ or its equivalent
  • Possess Trade Test III in Motor Vehicle mechanic
  • Possess relevant computer skills
  • Two years’ experience in a similar field
  • Certificate of good conduct

Artisan (welder) J/G 7(1 Post)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Welding
  • Fabrication  works

Requirements for appointment

  • Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D and above.
  • Have National Trade Test I Certificate in the area of specialization.

Artisan Pipe fitter J/G 7(3Posts)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Laying new connections
  • Repair of leaks and bursts
  • 3 years relevant experience

Requirements for appointment

  • Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D and above
  • Have National Trade Test 1 Certificate in the area of specialization
  • 3 years relevant experience

Driver JG 7 (1Post)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Driving a vehicle as authorized;
  • carrying out checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure etc;
  • Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
  • Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned;
  • Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;
  • Overseeing safety of the passengers and/or goods therein;
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

Requirements for appointment.

  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class (es) of vehicles an officer is required to drive.
  • Passed Occupational Trade Test II for Drivers.
  • Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Attended a First Aid Course lasting not less than one week as St John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution.

Pump Attendant J/G 8 (5 posts)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Detecting any abnormalities in the system by observing the pressure gauge
  • Taking regular meter readings for power  consumed and water produced
  • Reporting malfunctioning of pumps when noted

Requirement for appointment

     Be a KCSE certificate holder Grade D Plain or its equivalent

 Office Assistant J/G 8 (2 Posts)

Duties and responsibilities     

  • Perform routine work e.g. cleaning of offices, preparing tea, delivering mail between departments and those going out of the organization.
  • Report to the Human Resource Officer
  • Confidential work assigned by supervisor

Requirements for appointment

  • Be a KCSE certificate holder Grade D Plain or its equivalent
  • Demonstrate competence in performance of office Duties and responsibilities
  • Experience of three (3) years in a relevant field.
  • Possess basic computer skills

Artisan (carpenter) J/G 8 (1post)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Repair of buildings;
  • Repair of wood-work in building installations, fabrication of simple structures

Requirements for appointment

  • Must have a mean grade of D plain in KCSE or its equivalent from recognized Technical Institutes.
  • must possess the necessary trade test III certificate grade for appointment

Clerical Officer   J/G 8 (2 posts)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Filing documents in the relevant files
  • Retrieving documents as may be required from time to time
  • Safe custody of subject files
  • Tracing of subject files
  • Photocopying documents
  • Subject files movements
  • Recording, receiving and dispatching of correspondences
  • Answer over-the-phone enquiries

Requirements for appointment

  • KCES grade C (Plain) and above.
  • One year experience on clerical Duties and responsibilities
  • 3 years relevant experience

Artisan (Electrical) J/G 7 ( 1 post)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Undertaking repairs in the areas of specialization;
  • Routine checks of equipment in the areas of specialization
  • Fixing simple electrical gadgets and installations for maintenance in buildings;

Requirements for appointment.

  • Have National Trade Test II Certificate in the area of specialization from the Directorate of Industrial Training or any other recognized institution;
  • 3 years’ experience
